Dear Jeremy,

I'm writing in response to your letter of October 5, 2000 in which you suggested a possible agreement between Rogers and the London Musicians' Association regarding payment for on-air performances by your membership.

Unfortunately, this is not something that I'd be willing to consider at this time due to budget limitations.

As you're aware, virtually all the on-air talent appearing on Rogers Television are volunteers from the community. We are the not-for-profit television service of Rogers Cable Inc., and are not in the position to - not are our budgets set up to accommodate - paying on-air talent or production crews.

One option we have not discussed, however, is the possibility of recognizing the LMA as a sponsor at the end of each show your members perform within, in lieu of cash payment. This form of "contra' advertising would be a valuable way to promote both your members and your association.

Your comments on this, alternate proposal appreciated.

Scott Jackson
